Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's life is one of football scholarships, family involvement and community involvement. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie raised on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. Also, he was one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. All three were All-Americans. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. For the three seasons that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. As an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded a scholarship for the third time in the year 1975. Selmon earned a degree in Education. Lee Roy's fourth service was ten-hours per week in volunteer work during the college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. Also, he began a career in business. By 1988, he became an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the ten outstanding young people throughout the United States. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as player, commanded his team during the season of 1975. He joined University of South Florida in 1993, as assistant director of sports. The College Football Hall of Fame recognized his on the 28th of October, 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented an award of the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
